Introduction

With experience of approaching 500 live broadcast events and over a decade of pioneering innovation, Supponor is now established as the clear market leader in delivering trusted and reliable solutions that are dedicated to virtual advertising .  Having proven the virtual advertising platform in the challenging environment of outdoor top tier European football (soccer) and the high-paced indoor sports of Hockey and Basketball, Supponor has taken its virtual advertising platform onto the lush squares and outfields around the world with applications developed specifically for cricket.

The Supponor core platform offers a range of virtual replacement, overlay, placement, paint and seat kill applications for cricket designed to support multiple areas in and around the ground delivered from one, two, three of more camera positions.

Flexible virtual paint supports applying brand or institutional messages to areas of the square or outfield as seen from midwicket or along the bowlers run up and behind the wicket keeper, without damaging surfaces, leaving ‘ghosting’ or impacting the game; virtual placement and overlay or ‘replacement’ applications are perfect for augmenting LED perimeter boards around the entire ground or high value regions behind the batsman, or for adding highly messaging or production enhancements to sight screens or TV visible scoreboards; and large virtual seat kills or stadium banners can be placed on the seating decks without the need for large custom produced canvasses.  Each area can be exploited to create multiple opportunities to deliver incremental value through targeted virtual true vision branding and advertising in multiple regional or international broadcast feeds that appear authentic in all light conditions.

The platform can be used to deliver simple single application solutions or as powerful combined packages of virtual assets.

What we offer...

Modern day cricket fans have become accustomed to seeing the perfectly manicured squares and outfield of grounds around the world adorned with all manner of promotional brand and partner messages either painted on the outfield or pinned down on branded carpets.  These promotional assets located on the outfield as seen from midwicket or along the bowlers run up and behind he wicket keeper as seen from each end, have become even more valuable with the advent of franchise T20 leagues and the increasing globalisation of the sport.

Cricket fans love watching and analysing the game, they support their own country in bi-lateral or world tournaments but also analyse the performances of the competition, and outside of these pinnacle events will follow their favourite players as they slog sweep, ramp or bounce their way through franchise contracts.

With the increase in globally distributed fans why limit these placements to one domestic or generic global message?

The Supponor virtual advertising platform offers advanced virtual paint applications designed for cricket that dynamically adapt to conditions in real time to deliver perfectly keyed and authentic true vision team logos, ground sponsors, partner brands, scores and institutional messaging.  Virtual paint can be used to authentically replace physical paint and carpet methods and create incremental commercial value for rights owning cricket councils and boards.  Unlimited live broadcast feeds can be delivered on TV, OTT or social media channels offering global and new regional partners the ability to promote relevant and targeted activation messages to global fans in real time in their own language, complying with localised regulatory conditions.

For nearly a decade Supponor pioneered and is currently the market leader in delivering trusted and reliable virtual overlay of 250m of high impact TV visible LED perimeter boards in top tier football (soccer) leagues. The Supponor virtual LED overlay or replacement application has been deployed at over 300 live football (soccer) matches around the world and is currently the approved choice of La Liga and the Bundesliga.

Perimeter LED boards around the boundary edge have become commonplace in international test, one-day and T20 cricket as well as in the key domestic competitions, specifically those with overseas interest such as franchise T20 tournaments. Unlike in sports such as football (soccer), basketball and hockey, perimeter boards in cricket generate less TV visible airtime and so are mainly used for solus branding (single brand take over) and to enhance the in stadium experience. However, some of the most high impact signage is the 80-100m behind the wicket keeper at each end. Supponor virtual LED overlay can be used to incrementally increase the availability of this high value run of LED inventory, by creating an unlimited number of targeted feeds, each with differentiated messages to be delivered to home and away fans in bilateral series or to multiple global TV and OTT audiences.

Within cricket there is often the requirement for some seating areas around the ground to be left empty as to avoid visible distractions for the players or for health and safety, crowd control or TV production reasons.  In some cases installing large physical uniform colour canvasses is a necessity – specifically behind the bowlers arm.  However, why leave these blank when virtual stadium banners and seat kills can easily be used to augment or overlay these unusable areas and turn them into high value targetable assets for teams, leagues and councils to deliver partner brand activations in broadcast without adding in game distractions.

The Supponor virtual advertising platform supports the widest range of applications for authentic and visually unnoticeable virtual replacement, overlay and virtual placement of TV visible signage. This advanced virtual enhancement is delivered in parallel and downstream of the host production, with no upstream impact on camera signals or production of the main domestic and international programmes.

Regular integration with multiple local and various production companies ensures the ability to support many modes of operation in all broadcast formats from standard definition (SD), through high-definition (HD) to ultra-high definition (UHD / 4K) and high dynamic range (HDR), both on site at stadiums and in fully remote (REMI) production centres. Advanced visual processing of incoming signals and graphics detection ensures the perfect layering of virtual assets into both clean programmes and dirty finished programmes – either individually or in multiple programmes simultaneously.
