VP of Broadcast Operations

Job Purpose

You will be responsible 365/24/7 for the successful planning and delivery of all Supponor broadcast, technical and support operational needs, including helping Supponor’s external operational partners to deliver successful live events which are fundamental to achieving Supponor’s plans to scale its business in North America.  Supponor maintains both internal, third party and freelance operations resources, the VP of Broadcast Operations will own the operational relationship and uphold the necessary standards required of each.

The ideal candidate will have a strong sports broadcast and events production background and extensive operational and technical experience of managing quality focused teams, leading from the front and the ability to quickly acquire and retain knowledge of bespoke systems.

Major North American Sport League – League Wide Deployment 2021-2022 (Multi-year agreement)

In direct response to the agreed deployment of Supponor technology into a major North American league, planned to go live in 2022, this position will take a leading role in the planning and delivery of the project.  This will involve resourcing the partners who can help facilitate the project goals and objectives, covering areas of recruitment and training, support, operational delivery and technical direction.  COVID-19 has seen the world of outside sports broadcast change, ushering in more remote ways of working.  This will mean flexibility and the ability to move with the changing technologies and approaches to delivering the Supponor core tech will be vital to the success of the project.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead in the day-to-day management and operations of the deployment of Supponor technology into a major NA league. Contributing to planning, change management and reporting
  • To help identify the internal and external resources needed to build a successful standalone, Supponor Operational base in North America
  • Contribute to defining the operational KPIs required of third-party service providers
  • Working with the Technical Operations team advise on alternative approaches that can further develop the Supponor product offering with a firm understanding of relevant equipment and credibility to explore alternative solutions with external parties
  • To proactively engage with potential suppliers to introduce them to Supponor with the potential to forging partnerships
  • To play a key role in developing the support and training functions of the operational elements of the business and ultimately creating sustainable, standalone training and support functions within Supponor North America
  • Using suitable tools develop and maintain an accurate record of all Supponor events, both internal and external to include, dates and hours of operation, projections for attendance and assisting with revenue forecasts
  • Participate in planning and problem solving groups within the North American and the greater global business
  • Participate in failure analysis in conjunction with other technical experts: recommend revisions to processes and systems where possible to improve performance.
  • Manage and understand both hardware and software aspects of the product and the full end-to-end workflow deployed for delivering events
  • Provide detailed cost estimates for Supponor event deployments
  • Oversee operating budgets, including planning, preparation, control of spending and forecasting, plans and reports, and working closely with the Finance team
  • Lead the recruitment and training needs of the internal North American operations, technical and support team and carry out all necessary appraisals

  • Experience of using highly developed software and hardware used to deliver high quality broadcast (virtual) feeds
  • 5+ years’ experience of working on live Sports outside broadcast across multiple sports and throughout the world in a senior production or engineering role
  • Experience and knowledge of project managing operational events in sports
  • Excellent project, planning, change and time management capabilities
  • Experience in operational management
  • Resourcefulness and the ability to troubleshoot
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills – foreign languages a plus
  • Ability to conceptualize ideas
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the relevant Health and Safety legislation and procedures in the USA and Canada.
  • An understanding of the Union rules around the various US and Canadian sporting venues
  • Good understanding of local/regional health and safety requirements
